The lighting was the worst I have dealt with so far ( not many lights and what they had needed replaced), and the field/sideline was basically a mud pit. All these were shot at ISO 3200 @ 1/500 sec with the 30D/70-200 2.8 ( No Flash ) and cropped a bit.

I really like the 1st and 4th photos. They both do a good job of portraying the action of the scene. Maybe a little grain from the lack of light and your iris setting but I think they look pretty good.

Thanks, I thought they turned out ok considering the circumstances and the high ISO used. I was really surprised how well you can see the rain drops.

Wow looks like fun. I wish we had more rain games in So. Cal. Way to brave the elements and get some good shots.

3rd photo white balance is way off... but i love the shots here. We were supposed to have one of these last night and then they moved the game to an artifical field... :( bummer.

Nice ! Not to many natural fields left around here either that particular on e is tore up for them to be that muddy. Was there much offence for this game? The footing must have been nill.
Thanks for sharing 10.

Yep. That's the best could do with it. The original is half orange and half blue-ish...damn lights:mad:. I just threw it in there to show how muddy the front line was. I honestly think a lot of pics from this game will end up B&W.

Thanks for sharing 10.

It was fumble mania  The home team in Black (East Central if you can make em' out) won 33-0.

A few more...#3 heavily cropped and a bit grainy, but a cool pic anyway.

love this stuff man. Truthfully, you did great for those conditions. There are a couple wb issues but if that's the worst that happens here, its a victory. I can't believe they were passing the balL!

Thanks! Yes, the WB was a PITA. I tried auto with a white card on the field at first but with the light cycle it just wasn't going to happen. I agree with you though, if I get good shots then I don't sweat it too much. The winning team passed the ball successfully most of the night!

Where's the photo of what you looked like afterwards? Unless you managed to stay clean somehow.

Aside from my shoes I managed to stay clean ;) I stayed on the sideline walking pad for the most part, anything outside of it was 6 inches of mud. I was to go back today and shoot a soccer game on that field but it was canceled because the field is destroyed.

I've had a nagging cough for 4 days after 2 freezng soccer matches this week.. or I would have had a soccer match then junior college football game on snowy muddy field today to shoot. We desperately need a local business or a group of them to come together and sponsor changing our field to TURF but it's not happening so far.
