For the guy who made a lenscoat

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but someone posted many months ago about making a home-made Lenscoat from neoprene. I'm actually looking for the glue that he used, which he said really 'welded' the neoprene.

I've searched the site, can't find it anywhere. Cheers for any help.

Didn't see the original post, but I remember from my Scuba diving days in Australia there was a wetsuit repair glue that stuck very well to neoprene. Try a dive shop.

good luck finding a place to buy just one tube/pale. 3M wants you to buy at least $400+ worth of the stuff. i doubt you would need 4 gallons of adhesive for a lens coat.

DIY for a lenscoat is probably a good option. Is it just me or is the Lens Coat product line horibly overpriced?

no it's just isn't you i think alot of photography stuff are way to over price, but the more you spend on a single item the more acceptable you are to the expensive stuff because in the end it's actually worth it. i can't believe i said that lol

I used a wetsuit repair glue I got at a dive shop to put mine together (and some E-Bay scrap neoprene). Can't remember the name of the glue, but i'm sure any dive/surf shop would probably have it.
While the glue seemed to "weld" the seams o.k., I had a friend run it through her sewing machine after the glue dried just for peace of mind.
It looks a bit Frankensteinish, but it does what I wanted it to... protects and gives you some grip.
Total cost for everything was my time (it was actually kinda fun) and about $18.

as nimble as I am with scissors and at the speed I move these days...
let me just say I'd only have to sell it at about $400 to break even.
But it's a bit more functional than spending my spare time building a boat in a bottle.
And heck, I almost did it just to see if if I could.
