I was on the road before 6AM this morning to photograph some fall colors at a local stream.

Here are a couple of images I returned home with.

let me ask this please...

what is the first photo missing? i take tons of these. technically, its a fine shot. good leading line in the center. good foreground element. pretty backdrop.

but, the photo, as a whole, just doenst do anything for me. it's artistic and well planned, but still looks like someone just walked up and snapped it.

what is missing? what would give it that "WOW" that we are always looking for? if it's ok with OP, i would love to hear some responses because, as i said, i take tons of these photos.

Straightening...lol. Every time I straighten the horizon, I hang the picture crooked.

Nice images, I would like to see some detail in the sky in the first image. In my opinion, the sky takes what would be a great image and turns it into a nice image. I do like the 2nd image a lot.
