Visited my son in SoCal last week. He's got two feeders that get drank up as fast as he can fill them sometimes. I took the opportunity to play with the camera some and try my hand at catching them. I know, easy targets, but it was my first time anyway. There are more on my Zen (external link) site, but these are the best. Fire away. I'm here to learn.

Shot with the XSi and my 100-400 and 18-200. The 7D is about to be ordered.

Very pretty shots! Love the colors on these hummers, what kind are they?

No clue. I was particularly drawn to the ones showing a very bright irridescent red. There was also some blue and green.

Thanks for all the comments. We don't seem to have hummers here. These were shot at my son's in SoCal. I'm still hoping to get some nice Jays, but the snow flew pretty deep this week. Maybe next year.
