I always shoot in raw mode because the white balance is such a pain at the pool - especially when the water is in the shade. The Canon 5D and 40D usually underexpose and are on the cool side. I just shot with my new 7D last week but the pool had full sun so I don't know how it is going to perform with a half shaded pool (I'll get to see how at my problem pool in eight days). I think it has to do with all the blue of the water. Setting a custom white balance would work except for the pool being half in, half out of the shade. A bunch of stuff.
