Just wanted to sing praise on this lens. After a week in Africa's Kruger NP I was a happy chappy to have taken it. At 300 is is amazing, at 2.8 it is as sharp as at f4 or f5.6...just a matter of DOF. With the 2X TC attached it is the most amazing 600mm lens and on a crop body was brilliant for birding. Totally flexible with 1.4 and 2x TCs and IQ to die for. Shame that the African sun made atmospheric conditions impossible for longer shots. There will be samples posted as soon as I get chance to start PPing.

I use a very old non IS version for sports.. and results are amazing even with TC1.4X or TC2X

F1 racing in Monza 2009

or quad bike in a world Challenge 2009

But it took me hours to micro-adjust correctly with a 5DMKII and a 50D bodies with the TCs.. (+16 with TC2X and +9 with TC1.4X)

Probably a perfect combination with my 135L2 and 24L1.4II ....

Glad you're happy with the purchase. But again, for the price, I'd expect more than excellent results.

Enjoy it. I use mine with converters more often than not. Probably my second most used lens. I recommend over exposing a bit with converters, especially with the 2x.
