I've got some acreage in Madison County, not far from you and, WOW, I've never seen elk like that around here! I wish they'd come run around on my place.
These are on Hwy 43, in Newton County, near the ponca access. Actually if you know where Lost Valley is, it was at that elk viewing area right there. I have been down there many many times, and this was the only time I have ever seen elk at the elk viewing site. Everyone there that day around me were commenting on that too. If you want to see the elk though, they are all up and down Hwy 43 from Ponca, to the 21 Jct usually. Mainly in the morning just after first light, and evening just before dark.
