my first post - please CC

I'm a newbie photographer and this is my first post. These are pics that I took while camping on the pacific coast. CC welcome!

I love three! That is a winner in my book!!

The first picture is good too, but *maybe* a little less on black on the bottom. Try cropping it a bit and see how that looks.

EDIT:
NM, my Firefox is blocking them for some strange reason. IE shows them fine. Weird.

Anyhow ...

1) My favorite of the all, but it's hard to tell what the figure is holding. I would crop out some of the shadowed rocks on the bottom and some off the left to bring the silhouette closer in view.
2) Snapshot. Nothing holds my interest here.
3) Dogs kinda cute, but the water looks like a tar pit. SAVE THE DOG QUICK!! Good focus on this one, though.
4) Yup. It's a camp fire. It's everything a camp fire is supposed to look like. Doesn't hold my attention.

All in all, I'd say you're learning your camera nicely. And the main thing is it looks like you're having fun doing it. That's the most important part.

Keep it up and look forward to seeing more.

Thank you for your comment! I really appreciate them. Yeah, I threw in the kayak and the campfire pictures because I thought they were cool, haha. I guess those type of pics are a bit amateur.

those are really nice. Agree about #3 ... totally nailed! Good work.

Oh, I never said they were amateur shots. I just meant they were more snapshotty, meaning less planned out as the others. (e.g. busy backgrounds, lack of focal point, etc etc) We all take these type of shots. And they are cool shots for a way to remember the times you had. But, as a viewer seeing these as stand alone shots ... They just don't hold up enough on their own. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say.

Don't think I'm trying to be the professional photo snooty type guy.
I'm just giving ya some input, to make them better for next time.

Oh no, I don't think you're being a professional snoot! Haha. Its nice to hear how professionals view pictures since I just started taking pics. It so different how you start to analyze photo's once you get into it. Before I started, I didn't really know what to look for, or know how to capture the image I want, so no worries. I'm still learning and really appreciate your feedback. I will keep on posting pics!
