All I can say is try it without any type of filter on the lens. I have never used one personally but I have read they soften images....to some extent. Not sure how true that is though.
I'm going to have to agree with them on this one.

I have a drawer full of Hoya Pro1 UV filters as well as B+W. That's where they stay. All I need for protection of the front element is the lens hood. Any kind of contra light is going to affect your image with a filter in place.... in my humble opinion.
Gonna give it a try without... Took quite a few today in dismal light and got a few worth keeping... But I expected that... Waiting for better light now..
