Here are a few photos from the local fireworks display today. They put on a good show for memorial day, and I was only about 100 feet from where they were launching them.

This was using my 20d kit lens, since it is the only lens I own that was wide enough to capture everything with how close I was to the launch area........

This is the very first time I have ever tried photographing fireworks

Anyways, what do you guys think?

Well done, Well done.

Bless the recently fallen and their family and friends.
I have a Cannon with me at all times. You can't take the shot if you don't have something with which to shoot.

Nice shots, Badrotation.
There have been other threads here on how to photograph fireworks. I would like to know your technique. Can you share some info on camera settings and how you timed the shutter?
Thanks.

exposure was typically 10-15 seconds in Tv mode.

The exif info should still be intact on the images if you are interested in the other settings (since they change from picture to picture)

only ps'ing was resize, and a tad bit of unsharp mask, but not much at all.. they came out much sharper than expected, right from the camera.....

These shots are damn near amazing. I can't believe the clarity at a 10 or 15 sec exposure. What were you using for a lens? Tele?

I was using the kit lens (18-55mm f/3.5-5.6) zoomed all the way out at 18mm.

ISO 400

I like the third one down. The blue of the sky against the color of the fireworks is gorgeous...better than the black sky or the lighter blue, IMO.
