You're right, Jgr. Some details are hidden by the darker tone. However, I took the photo at 6:29pm, the sunset in the nearest town(Lake Placid) is about 6:13pm. The exposure of cloudy sky is iso100+F10+2.5s. The tone of the photo is closer with what I saw when taking the pic.
