9fps on a FF body! ... and that's some ISO range! Will be interested to see some real-world examples ....

What will Canon do about this! :D

You think that picture is big enough?

Personally, I think it's time for Canon to offer a body that can shoot fairly fast at FF (at least 6fps) and even faster (10+ fps) at an internally cropped (APS-H-esque) size. This can't be anything more than a software driven functionality.

Keep the 21MP for FF (I guess) but allow the camera to drop it down to say, a 15-18 MP sRAW for the "Speed Mode."

I would love to know the thought process here.

"Dang, the D3 already goes to 25600. The next step? How about 51200? Nah, that's got too few digits. How about 102400? Yeah, 102400 will work. Let's do that."

This has to be the noisiest thing known to man. It is interesting, though, that it'll only be 12.1mp. Canon's high end FF bodies go a lot higher. I guess Nikon has a harder time pushing high ISO at high MP at the same time? Or perhaps quality (low noise) vs quantity (high MP)?

yeah really. no surprises here. frankly i don't see the attraction of a FF machine gun.

Would Canon consider "melding" the 1D and 1Ds functionality into one body?

Bigass FF files if you want them or a slightly smaller file size at a more rapid-fire rate?

How have 1DsMkIII sales stacked up against 1DMkIII sales? Or do they allow the 1DsMkIII to be a "loss leader" and make it up in volume off other models?

Just goes to show what a modern 12MP FF sensor can churn out! I'm not sure 102400 will look particularly pretty though!

Strange vertical banding in this shot though?

Nice ISO performance nevertheless!

Very good image at 12600 but also noticed some smudging in the dj shot like some form of noise reduction going on, still very impressive.
I also noticed the banding on that eagle shot but the cam would be a pre-release version so it may be ironed out.

I saw the smudging as well.

Seriously what is the point? Its just turning into an ISO/Mpix pi**ing match with frames per second soon to be added to the mess.

ISO 102,400 is not a selling point unless your a cave troll that doesn't get out much;)

I have a 5d classic and try not to go above iso800. I would love a 5D2 so I can squeeze shots in at 1600 or 3200 knowing they will be great but never felt constrained by iso800

Lets just be done with it and all get RED bodies with night vision that shoots with a gazillion Mpix sensor the size of a car windshield at 3000fps and take the stills we like....:D

Just remember there is a big advantage to a camera that can handle very high ISO effectively, your budget for lenses affords you more choices. Granted an F4 lens won't give you the DOF an F2.8 lens would, but it would indeed be as effective in the future in low light situations on an advanced ISO body than it is now on less effective ISO bodies.

I would love to be able to use the 70-200 F4IS instead of the 2.8 IS with what I shoot, it is lighter, smaller, cheaper, and sharper, for example. This is becoming more and more a possibility with better high ISO bodies. The change in DOF will still be a slight issue with me, and the next time I shoot with the 2.8 IS, I probably will restrict it to F4 for an evening to see how much an issue it is.
