This is the stump I put near the water hole. The fall colors are starting here, not real colorful like back East, but makes a nice background. Abert's Squirrel...

Thanks for the comments...These squirrels are tree dwellers and live deep in the woods. Those long toes and claws really make this squirrel a great climber and jumper. I love watching them run up and down the trees. They are very curious but skittish. I've had them come right up to me, as I sit still in a chair and they don't know what to think of that. Yesterday I was sitting a foot from a tree with my camo cloth on and one jumped on the tree right at head level, I could have bit him...heh..heh. Steve

These Abert's won't eat the peanuts I put out or the seeds. In fact the Jays won't touch them either. I did see a chipmunk eating peanuts. I don't put any out now, just tried it one time to see what would happen. Steve

I especially like the Abert's. I think it's probably the most striking looking of the squirrels. Cool to se you're creating a "studio" in your yard. I've contemplated doing the same thing, but haven't actually done anything yet. "Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.

I've contemplated doing the same thing, but haven't actually done anything yet. The pose in that first pic makes for one great image! Thank you Tom, the abert's are quite curious and will walk up to me if I sit still. They make some funny sounds, barking like a small dog. I really enjoy seeing them. My yard is not really a yard. I am 15 miles from home out in the forest. A small water hole there, and that's where I set up the stump and perch for birds. It's become my favorite place for shooting. Although, you could set up something in your yard that would be quite nice. Thank you again for the nice comment! Steve
