Zichar, that is beautiful!
Would love to see it lightened a bit and converted to black and white.

This is a smashing idea I must say. After months of lurking, reading, then the agonizing wait for the glass to arrive from eBay, I finally registered just to say that I tried it last weekend and it works!!!

In my childish glee to get things going, I totally forgot to make my WB reference shot...
Desat, corrected some and added a tinge of X-pro to make the sun pop out a lil'

Actually, with a little tweaking in Camera RAW I was able to get this to look a little more real looking. Unfortunately, you don't have IMAGE EDITING OK checked in your profile so I can't post my version. It's a great shot and easily fixable. Nice job!

Got my #10 polycarbonate filter in today. Cut down to fit a Cokin P and did a couple of tests at work. Nice green tint. I'll do my real outside tests when I get home after work. Pretty dark filter. Got an exposure calc for my phone so I can meter w/o glass and plug in info to the calc and get a decent general idea of what I really need to use.

*edit*

Well, got home, tested outside. Very green.. Very bad IQ.. I might play around with this over the weekend, but I don't think the outlook is too good on using this.

Don't despair, You can always go B & W with them. Also, if you have Photoshop it might help bring some of the color back. Mine also has a green tint but I can recover the colors pretty good.

I have DCE Tools and was trying to do color correction with it. I was figuring with this type of filter I'd do B/W on them, but the IQ was just bad. I'd AF, switch to live view, set the lens to MF check to make sure focus was still good, slide the filter in and get the shot. The resulting images looked like I just totally missed the focus.

And since I'm using a Cokin holder, I think part of the problems I saw was that there is a 2mm or so gap between the filter and the holder, so that's a light leak issue that I will work on tomorrow at work.

Oops, didn't see that option in the list, fixed :)
That's actually a 2 shot blend, the sun was much too strong and I wanted some detail on the rocks but didn't wanna go overboard. I must say I might get to like the green... though conversion to B&W sounds very enticing too. Decisions decisions!

Here's another, corrected then tinted slightly towards the blue/purple end of the spectrum.
Do I have this right? I posit that this was easier to correct amongst all my other shots because as the sky changes colour so quickly during a sunset, this was taken at its 'yellowest', which neutralises the green tint of the glass?

Super example of what can be done with such a cheap piece of glass :)

Whatever you did that looks much much better. That is a beautiful shot. Awesome work.

Thanks guys, much appreciated :)
I focused before putting on the glass but realised I could boost brightness during LV to at least see the scene before I took it. Wasn't that dark then. Didn't try to AF during LV though.
Here's the last from that outing. Tried a diff processing this time.

Are you shooting Raw or jpeg?
According to the exif data you're using PS CS5. When you load your picture into PS load it into ACR first and then use the White Balance tool and click it on something a neutral/gray, or white but not bright color. On this particular picture click the WB Tool onto the sand or one of the gray clouds. That will correct for the heavy green cast caused by the filter. Unless of course you don't mind it being green.

I shoot in RAW
Yeh I've been trying to see if I like the green
These have been processed with Nik's Color Efex Xpro, chosen for the green
If you can't beat 'em.....

My first time in this location actually. Bit of a bother to get there, not sure when I'll get my next chance :(
