Last night I lucked in to some real good seats at a Dallas Stars game. I have never tried taking hockey pictures so it was a lot of fun.

My only complaint was the glass boards got in the way a lot but the view was great. I hope I get to go again soon.

Great pics! What steps did you take to ensure that the ice came out white and not gray?

Thanks. I didn't do anything special really. I adjusted the levels in photoshop and that helped brighten the pictures a lot. Probably the biggest help was how bright the arena was lit. I haven't been to a Stars game in years and I forgot about bright and colorful they are. Keeping auto focus wasn't an issue at all, like I thought it might be.

Thanks. It is funny, the more I looked at the pictures the more I couldn't stop staring at the people in the crowd. Especially before cropping. It was amazing how many people where on their phone, texting, fiddling with the game program etc...it was pretty funny.

How did you get your camera in? Last time I tried to take my 20d in they turned me away telling me no professional cameras without a press pass...

Not bad, shots look quite good from the stands, As a active shooter of hockey, I know how the lighting can be.

They just let me in. I had to open my camera bag for the lady at security and she let me through. Did you have problems at the American Airlines Center? I know on the Mavericks website (they use the same building) it says still cameras are allowed but no video. I couldn't find anything on the Stars site though.

There were lots of ushers in my section and they didn't say anything to me. I was using my 70-200 2.8 lens and they would have had to see it, it's huge. I didn't attach the hood though.

Thanks! It was a great game, Stars were up 4-0 after the 1st. I too used to go to Reunion Arena quite a bit. Back when the Mavs were awful you could get great seats real cheap.
