i hate that its 1.6x because 1.6x lack detail and just about any thing out of one is just soft and lacking most of the time.. ppl will be on top of this. but its true. haha

:rolleyes:are you serious...How can you even mutter that crap. Have you even seen some of the shots from the 7D..it seems to have GREAT detail and holds it well on cropping.

My gear

R7, 7D, Canon RF 14-35 f4L, Canon RF 50 1.8 STM, Tamron 70-200 G2, Canon 100-400LII, Canon EF-RF

All I can say is don't feed the trolls. Those of us who actually get out and use the cameras know the quality they are capable of producing.

Don't feel that the shutter on the body itself is all that sensitive.

I would call it "responsive".

I find I have to consciously exert pressure to trigger the body shutter button, definitely more than just going to the 1/2 point for focusing/metering.

Some Canon stuff and a little bit of Yongnuo.

I guess since I use the * button for focusing, I don't perceive it that way. Whatever it is, I've gotten used to it. I have to admit, coming from the 1DMKIII, it took a little bit getting used to the shutter sound. It has the "clunk" sound that doesn't sound as impressive.:D

To owners: how does the 7D's high-ISO performance fare against the 5D classic? :)

So far I would say that the 7d has less noise, but at the expense of a little less detail. Nothing earth shattering, and I am happy with the performance of both at 3200. I haven't actually gone more than ISO 4000 for real shooting yet; I will try that at the next soccer game. IMHO Canon delivered with the 7d, but I will hold onto the 5d because I like the utility of my lenses having different applications on the FF and crop bodies. I very much like the configurability of the 7d - it just makes life so much easier when you can set the main dial to always be aperture (in Av and M mode) - I don't have to think about the mode I can just change it and shoot.

Agreed. It's certainly at least as good as the 5D classic, if not slightly better...1/2 stop at most.

Who cares? The 7D is doing -very- well at high ISO while providing speed (not just fps either) that 5D users can only dream of. Take a look at these ISO 12,800 shots: https://photography-on-the.net …p?p=8887307&postcount=109

Why would you say something like this? You know it's just going to start sh**....I mean really. Be happy with your camera, don't dog on people that are happy with theirs.

If I were going into threads about the 5D and talking trash about AF speed, then you'd have a point. Until then your comment would be much better directed towards others.

Tim, Nick, many thanks for the responses.

Ken, I care. That's why I asked, right?

In that case you were guilty of nothing more than asking in the wrong thread. Your post sounded like yet another ignorant "it's a 1.6x crop sensor instead of full frame so it must suck" post, and if I misinterpreted your post then I apologize.

There are some other threads where variations of your question are the main subject and other "post your 7D pics" type threads such as the sports thread I linked above which contain plenty of high ISO samples. In fact, for the first few weeks it seemed like test shots of high ISO and AI servo performance is all that anybody was taking. Any of those would be a better place to ask your question than in the "**** about your 7D" thread.

It did? I certainly didn't read it that way...
