Hi,

I wondering what people do with the option of color correction at a print house (such as bayphoto.com or mpix.com). Obviously, I can save money by not doing so, but I'm wondering if the color correction by the technician at the print house would actually mess up the photo which I worked so hard on at home. I'm using Abobe Lightroom for post processing, and use a wide gamut (pro version) Viewsonic monitor. Appreciate your comments. Thanks.

I don't let mine make ANY corrections. And if I should screw it up (I don't), I don't have to pay for it! Great deal, isn't it? Post #10 & #18. Note that these are 2005 threads & I haven't had any problems with them in 4 years.

Thanks! I was just going to try Costco for the hay of it since they got approx. a 1hr turnaround after an upload, and can pick the photos after work. I'll use the no color correction option. Pretty cool that the print costs actually went down after 4 years.

If your monitor is calibrated and you are using color-managed software then you have the best control if you have Costco turn adjustments off.

If you're not sure, have them run a test print of a few photos with a variety of tones and colors in both modes.

I use a pro lab, I have them color correct my albums, and sometimes my prints. If they get it wrong they reprint at their cost. It just saves me time.
