Hi All

This morning I used another togs formated CF card and this expectedlt lost me my "continuous" file numbering.

So I took a CF card prepped with my last numbered file this being in folder 101 IMG_0798.jpg

Right this was fine until I took the next image and the file number was the next in the sequence 'from' the other CF card!

Now I followed the "resetting" method described here https://photography-on-the.net …php?p=5865951&postcount=3 which I understood was common to all xxD series but apparently is not.

I have found that whatever I do if I take a CF and format it in camera (note it is squeaky clean having formated in PC first) though the file number climbs correctly the folder number has gone i.e. it goes back to 100 and will stay sticky at 100, very confused now as the received wisdom has always been that using a CF card that last had the correct numbering sequence on it will "reset" the 40D.

Not sure if it has an effect but the other togs card was used in a 1D series.

Any thoughts as to more properly restroing my 40D to the desired sequencing???

That was a great meal ~ you must have a good set of pans :p

My advice, get your own numbering system and do not be dependent on the camera's. I shoot with 2-3 bodies at the same time, take so many pix I might roll the camera number over. Number that comes out of the camera makes no sense at all.
