It's getting cold outside and I am thinking about buying some gloves to wear while I shoot football sectionals next week. If you sports shooters out there have any good brand suggestions that are thin enough to still operate the camera yet will still keep my hands decently warm then please share. I used some batting gloves the other night but they did nothing to keep my fingers warm.

I use a pair of "Mechanics" gloves when I shoot hockey. They keep my hands warmer and are flexable enough to use.

My personal choice is non-tacky baseball batters gloves, I can still hit the * focus button and shutter without problem, but obviously non-tacky .. but I've always worn those in the cold where I have a camera with or not until it gets to be real winter gloves weather.

These were suggested to me but I have not made the purchase yet to provide a review. This weekend was the first below 60 so it's time to try them out.

Mechanics gloves with a Zippo handwarmer in each coat pocket. Works great.

No kidding! :D 2 Fridays ago, I was shooting in single digits at a HS football game.

Oh, to answer OP's question, I also use Mechanics gloves. They work pretty good, and I just make sure to get my hands into my pockets when I can.
