Hey all...

I just updated my site layout, and also added a splash page (for SEO). Tell me what you think! I'm open to suggestions :)

I closed it so fast after it popped up a new window, and had Flash in it.

I'd get rid of all of that.

If you must have flash, don't have it open a new window. That's the quickest way to get me never to do business with whatever site it is. Flahs is a close second. I want a site that loads quickly, gets me the info I need quickly. If I have to watch a little "loading" think I'll probably just close the thing and go somewhere else. Definitely will if it opens in a new window.

I couldn't fully decide on whether or not I really liked having it open in a new [full screen] window. You made my decision for me.
I just edited it, and now it opens in the same window\tab.

Thanks for the input!

You're welcome. Note that Flash is kind of a pet peeve with me, and most people don't mind.

But I don't like popup windows, and most don't either.

Thanks as well. Mine was the same way until you mentioned that. I'm not done editing mine yet so I'll switch that out. :)

Otherwise I like the way the site looks. Nice job.

lose the splash page. you don't need it. don't have the blog open in a new window. blue background is a bit....90s looking. if you really want a darkish blue try something like 0d2c4c or go to colourlovers.com and browse around. why is there so much space at the bottom of the page? It's flash. Up to you whether that's a good or bad thing. I'm not much of a fan personally.
There's no music. thumbs up on that. Decent selection for showcasing your work too.

I don't really like splash pages, but I am using it so Google and Yahoo crawlers and SEO stuff, can find my site easier.
As for the blue background: Yeah, I'm still fiddling around with different shades of dark blue.

Your actual website is nice, very simple to follow and not over done.

Thanks MLphoto!
Everytime I ask for critique on my WEBSITE, everyone just spams how "stupid" flash is (even though all of the big time photogs, and major company's use flash, so there MUST be something to it (I know for one thing; before I started photography, I would ignore all sites that WEREN'T flash))...

So thanks for actually commenting on what this post was for :D

What companies? Just curious.

You asked for a critique about your site and people gave you feedback. Maybe not what you wanted, but you did get some feedback. FWIW, I don't like flash either and splash pages are a waste of a click IMO. :D

These forums are so bi-polar, hahahaha....
If I post my site WITHOUT the splash-page, people rant about how I need one for SEO purposes. Then I get one, and people complain about THAT. Fail.

I guess I should have worded my question better. I'm looking more for suggestions\comments on the content of the site (seeing as how nobody is happy either way, with the way my site is built).

Thanks,

All those major companies have significant flash content on their index page. ;)

Most also have some text with Flash, but I admit...some just have Flash only. For SEO, I'm guessing the 'big companies' aren't necessary concerned about SEO, since they also have commercials, newspaper etc to drive people to their website.
