I was trying to find a thread that I contributed to some time back. The only thing I remember is that it had a dog in it.

I entered my user name Radtech1, keyword dog, and selected the "search entire post" parameter. The search screen and the results are below. For the moment, ignore the red arrows.

So that search got me three pages of responses. Too many to open one at a time. So I thought I would narrow my search. I made a guess that the OP might have used the word "dog" in the title. Now I did a slightly newer search, where I again entered my user name Radtech1, again the keyword wasdog, but now I selected the "search titles only" parameter, rather than "entire post."

So what I should be getting, is a list of posts started by any user (as I did above, when I was searching the entire post), but this time they should all have the word dog in the title, as that was the only parameter that I changed. NOW, go back and notice that in the above search, there are at least 4 responses with "dog" in the title, indicated with the red arrows. Those 4 + others should be among the responses in the new search, as the only difference is the "titles" parameter.

INSTEAD of that, what I get is a list of threads that I started, and no other threads, with "dog" in the title. It is as though the "find threads started by user" parameter is selected, but it isn't.

Any thoughts on what's going on? Why don't I get the correct set of results? Try it yourself with your own keywords...do you get the same response? Or is it just me?

Rad

That gives the same results, except spread out. :(

It is exactly the same seven threads as the failed search just above, including none of the threads started by other users. (Marked with red arrows, way above.)

So really, the question is this:

I know how to search for threads started by anyone, that I have contributed to, with the keyword somewhere in the thread. (First example.) NOW, how do I search for threads started by anyone, that I have contributed to, with the keyword in the title, because selecting "Search Titles Only" doesn't work. Selecting "Search Titles Only" gives results as though "find threads started by user" was selected even though it wasn't.

The implementation of Sphinx search engine in this Vbulletin is lacking some features. I have a solution, but it will not include any form of vBulletin (pun intended), so you have to wait a bit. Sorry that you can not easily find what you are looking for.
