Thats ironic..........I have found some good deals at the airport in Singapore. I got my EOS 7D there for a darn good price, but maybe I just hit a lucky sale. :D

I am actually staying in Singapore for 3 nights so was not thinking of buying at the airport.

Have found another price that was about £1000 equivalent - I now have to decide whether its worth £100-200 extra for me to get the uk warranty. It would also mean that I would be coming back to the uk with 3 bodies (I am taking the 5D & 30D) but as I am taking 3 lenses that may be believable - it will at least loook used with a lens on it. I will leave the box (if I get it ) with my daughter and she would being it over later.

With the new autofocus capabilities of the 7D, can it autofocus at f/8 using the center point or is it still limited to f/5.6 like all other non-1D series bodies??

Thanks!

No it can't, still only the 1 series that can AF at f/8

I have hired a 7D for the weekend and am having a problem in selecting the AF point. From the video tutorials it shows diagram of selection screen with the symbol of the AF selection which was a square on the middle left. This is missing from my screen and I cannot retrieve it. Would anybody have any ideas how to. Perhaps I have to change one of the custom functions?

Yes, you can turn on or turn off one or more AF modes in the CF settings so that when you change AF modes, you only cycle through those you like.

hi guys. i just purchased a 7D yesterday, i have noticed that its a bit grainy (its like a noise, dont know how to explain it) when i looked into the viewfinder and zooming it on a plain white colored wall or paper. Is it normal? Is there something wrong?

because when i compared it to my 450D, everything is clear when i looked into the viewfinder.

Thanks in advance for your help.

That's normal. You can actually see that grain in a lot of viewfinders, it's the focusing screen I believe. Nothing wrong.

It is an LCD screen with yet another screen behind that I believe.

The grainy look in the viewfinder is due to the glass pentaprism. Your 450D used a series of mirrors (to cut weight and cost), which yields a more even viewfinder image, but much darker.
