Bedford had a population of about 3,200 at the time of the invasion and lost 19 sons. Because the community proportionally suffered the nation’s severest on D-day, Congress authorized construction of the memorial there. Right reason, but not very cost-effective....I hope they find a way to keep it open. The memorial is very moving and well done.        Great place to take the kids...
