Took this at the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge in New Jersey.
It was a rainy day had to shoot from inside the car. Picture is not the best.

I thought as Juviniles they were more gray than brown

I'm going by the feather pattern on the chest telling me this is a young bird.

This is an adult...notice the solid feathers.
