Where and how do you guys go about putting a paypal storefront on your websites? I don't know any HTML coding magic so I'd ideally want something as for-dummies as possible.

I thought about paying a web designer a few to get a proper website set up, but for now mine seems to do the trick..I also need to do more research into it so I know exactly what I need.

But in the time being..how do you go about linking your paypal account to your website, so people can buy prints off of the website (preferably with an HTTPS extension too..though I haven't a clue how to go about that).

Paypal has codes you can put in and you have to build a page for all the images you want to sell - and it is secure for credit card or paypal payment. Of course you'll need some html knowledge to put them in. If you're selling a lot of prints I'd look into a service like Exposure Manager, SmugMug, etc. If enough to just put up on your own it's more cost effective to do it yourself.

Wish I had my page still up to show you what I used to do for some products but long deleted it.

thanks! Only thing is I like to manage the print process myself..I can get a better profit ratio by printing myself than any company I can find in North America.
Looked into it extensively, though, both SM and EM I'd still be losing far more..especially with an initial payment of 250$ a year..just not worth it.

I sell about 25-50 prints a month. I have so much of my work under representation now I need to figure out how to accurately and properly price things now; it has to be even across the board, in every store I sell at and in every gallery regardless of consignment rate..so as a result I gave the whole printing section of my website an overhaul. Probably for the best, too, I really need to fix my web presence but I'm trying to get the best info on how to do it properly.

http://www.picturespro.com/ (external link) - has PayPal integration, cost $250 once not every year. Host it on your own server and set it up however you like, it emails you orders for you to do whatever you like with. Works well for me.

Alternately you can email an invoice to people via paypal, they can pay it with credit card or however they like.

that's what I'm doing now but I feel I need a smoother way to access people who don't...take the time to do that  thanks for the link (is that your business?)

Karl, I'm not exactly understanding what you are trying to do. Do you want a catalog of your offerings / pictures that people can buy? Does it have to be paypal?

With paypal you can easily create buttons for payment for anything.

Are you just trying to accept credit cards or are you looking for specific integration with paypal (website payments standard, website payment pro, a simple button for (add to cart, pay now, leveraging Paypal shopping cart)...

It's not quite clear to me after reading the exchanges so far...

I'm a satisfied customer as well, it's a great product.

Karl, I'm not sure if it's been made clear, but if you go to Paypal, they have a tool for creating "buy it now" buttons, and other similar buttons you might need. You put in the price, etc, and it gives you the snippet of html code that you paste in to your web site. Assuming you don't muck with that code, it works just fine and would allow you to do what you want. It's not going to be fun if you have to create 200 buttons for 200 different prints, but if you just have a few to do, it's no problem at all.

Still worth it for someone who sells a decent number of prints.

Its been a while for me but from what I recall, PayPal has copy & paste code... just copy the code the paste it in the right place and the PayPal button should show up. Hard to get more idiot proof than that.

I'll have to look to be 100% certain, though. Obviously, having a PayPal account is a must...

My lab doesn't offer drop shipping, but yes that's the best way to do it. I do print orders monthly, so I combine customer orders into one order. My lab sends me prints, I check/collate them, then repackage and send them off. It's pretty time consuming, barely worth doing even with my minimum order of $50, I mostly do it as a service rather than a profit centre.

Looking to create an online storefront (something like a paypal shopping cart I see on other peoples' websites). Looking into that thing Tim offered now. Doesn't have to be paypal but I'd like something along those lines, its a bit greek to me..I really should invest in learning web design some day

To develop a proper shopping cart solution yourself would take a HUGE amount of time. Months.
