The 135L is CRAZY sharp, even wide open at f2. I love my 70-200 2.8 IS and will never get rid of it, but I find myself leaving the 135L on the camera for most outdoor shots. Indoors, it's tough to get enough distance to shoot, but outside, it's amazing.

I've never seen the 200 f2, so I can't comment on it's sharpness, but I find it hard to believe anything could be sharper than the 135L.

I did remember reading/hearing a rumor that this lens is not going to be produced anymore, so that can have something to do with the out-of-stock situation.

With that price, it's no wonder it's still in stock.

They have it for $1,069.99, that is the same price everyone else has it for. What do you want it for free? B&H has it in stock as well for $1,069.95 http://www.bhphotovideo.com …hoto_EF_135mm_f_2_0L.html (external link)

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

And also remember we are talking crop cameras for the OP, so 85 = 135mm and 135mm = 215mm in FF terms.

Good point, honestly didn't see that. I sometimes forget that there are still crop cameras - I've long since removed them from my memory! :p

Can I just ask what 100mm f2 or 135mm f2 would provide that your 70-200 f2.8 do not?

I really love my 70-200 f2.8, but most of the time I leave it at home. I just want something I carry with me with my 17-55 as my everyday kit.

I really sweat spending a lot of money on a lens. I did the same thing before I bought my 17-55. However, I carry the 17-55 with me 98% of the time and have no regrets. I'm hoping the 135mm will be no different.

If you plan to always lug it around, I might reconsider the 100mm f2 if you don't win that auction. It is about half the size/weight of the 135L without that much compromise and IMO is a more workable length on a crop camera.

I can certainly see wanting a smaller walk around kit - those 70-200 f2.8's are beasts. That is why I went with the 50-135mm f2.8 instead. If you do get the 135L, take comfort in knowing it is an easy lens to sell or trade if it does not work out, so no worries. And it certainly is not lacking optically

That link showed the price of 1299.00 from 17th street photo. It was just recently changed and why would I even bother to want it when I already have one.

Saint728I saw them in stock at few places, but some of those guys say it's in stock no matter what and take weeks to ship. I could always pick one up locally.

When Canoga has stock, they ship same day as long as you order it before their cut off time. Call them up and verify stock - I've done it many times. But when they're online system says in stock, it is.
