I yesterday -- unfortunately, the fog rolled in shortly after arriving, but I was able to get a couple of shots of a snowy egret with my new Sigma 120-400mm lens.

Ah...you were the one that brought in the fog...(just kidding)! ;)

I was there too, did you see the gulls stealing fish from the terns. It was amazing watching them.

Nicely done with the egrets!

Hi Ben, thanks!! Wow, what a small world! I met my meetup group there at 3pm and the fog was just rolling in as we arrived. I took the color shot within the first 10 minutes and then (as you are obviously aware) the whole place got shrouded in mist, so I decided to edit most of my other shots in B&W, but I didn't get many worthy of posting.

Glad you enjoyed the shots! Carla

Nice shot, though looks a little soft to me, may be the fog , I wonder how the 120-400 compares to the 150-500.

Shot these ones of an egret hunting a while back. Never knew they hunted this way. Always thought they stood motionless for hours like Herons. Oh, well...

Sorry if they're not pin sharp. Shot from a loooong way away, so heavy crop on pics.

They do usually wander along a shoreline, at least the little Egrets round here do, I've nevr seen them do this though with a shoal like that I expect he thought it was too good an opportunity to miss :D
