POLL: "Will you "upgrade" your 100mm macro non-L lens?"
No, I'm happy with the 100mm macro (non-L) and don't think I'd getting any extra value by going to the L version.

I'm happy with my USM version, IS would be nice but is it necessary? Not yet...

I missed an "Other" option in the poll :D.

I recently sold my 100 non-L macro for an entirely different reason. I found that between the 50L and 135L mounted with one or more tubes and/or an extender, I didn't use the macro anymore. I prefer the rendering of the 50L and 135L when in macro reaches.

I stil am pondering whether to get another macro, regardless, and the 100L IS macro certainly looks very appealing, but so does the 180L to me, and the CZ 100 F/2 Macro. The 100L for the IS and likely for the similar rendering it has compared to 50L and 135L, the 180L for the reach, the Zeiss for F/2. And I am also considering the 100-400L. That coupled to a 500D close-up lens is fabulous, too, and IMO an option many more people should look at.

Kind regards, Wim
