I really like the second shot! all good, but really like the second. 1D eh? I take it all back! I'm really jelous, and don't really like you or your pics any more :-p

seriously really nice! would you mind telling what lens and app n shutter setting you were using? Its got great blur both in front and behind subject! is any of that done with photoshop? or is that why your cam cost as much as 4 of mine?

nice work!
Sincerly,
The Jelous one :-)

Thanks Martial76, The 1D3 are just amazing. The second shot was made back lit, As I don't want to afraid this nice male, I move slowly until the sun where at a better position. The automatism of the camera are just very good, I just overexpose a bit and the camera do the rest admirably. With this camera the PP are just minimal, even the native sharpness give a nice crispness feeling. All was taken (except the female portrait) with the EF 400mm f5.6 from iso 400 to 800 with a Gitzo 1325 tripod and Black widow light head. The female portrait was taken with the excellent 70-200 f4 IS USM and a kenko pro 1.4X converter handheld.

Michael's right........ # 2 is a real cracker 'Avan'.

If you could clone out the two blades of grass cutting across his left ear and antler, it'd be darn near perfect I reckon.

Just as an aside....

Singular for deer is 'deer' and plural for deer is also 'deer'.

Cheers, Matt

It seems many animal names including deer don't follow conventional language rules. Anyway, I like the second photo where the buck is peering over the vegetation.

In french you always have the "S" or "NT", thats the rule. This is an other variation on the theme of the deer face behind vegetation.
