The sun is finally shining with a cloudless sky after a few weeks of cloudy and rainy weather so I walked down to the lake and found the Great Egret waiting for me -- this is a 100% crop from an image shot with my 7D at a distance of about 60 feet. Settings were ISO 100, 1/2000 sec. shutter speed, and f/5.6 aperture on my 400 mm lens. The egret was preening its feathers to look good on camera which I suppose is the reason for the stuff on the beak. I complained to the egret that was sort of like getting all dressed for a portrait and forgetting to put on lipstick.
