I tried to avoid shooting flat looking photo, so I decided to include the roof. Does it work or not? How do I crop this better (I hate the post on the right side though...)

My first reaction was: where's the flag? Oh, there it is. Kinda small, isn't it?

It's a pleasant shot of a pleasant locale on a pleasant day. Composition is appealing. Might be more interesting if there was a point of interest, like a person or animal.

the closest lightpole is big distraction for me. I think without that my eye would be drawn right to the flag and it would have a bigger impact. As it is now the light pole grabs my attention most. I tried a tighter crop on just the flag, and leaving out the light pole and I think it looks much better. But you don't have image editing on so I can't post it.

Thanks for all the response. I enabled image editing now...

Here's what I would crop it to. Sorry about the quality, the upload limitations here suck.

Well it is most definitely not an image of a flag. It is an image of a scene/landscape that happens to have a flag. It nice enough but would have looked a lot better a few hours later at sunset.

Pitrow: That looks good ! Thanks.

Well, I guess with the cropping, the subject gets noticed.

1. Flag's too small
2. Title does much the image shown. When you say USA flag, I expect to see something like this:

Obviously you were not singling out the flag as your main subject. It is way too small and the photo had no simplicity but instead was too distracting with all the stuff around it.
The photo is not interesting because of the above.

Thanks, but I already got the point. That is why I acknolwedged the crop made by Pitrow.....Thanks for the response anyway. From pitrow cropping, I find the lamp posts leading you into the main subject....

Personally, the overhang at the top makes me feel crowded, like I should be ducking or something. Maybe next time shoot from just outside the structure?

That was one of my original question. Did it work or not? I guess it didn`t. Thanks for the input.
