Alright, I am looking to buy a new camera and I had the 1D MKII in mind as it was around my price range. Taking a look in the forum, I have seen some marketing material come out for the MKIV. What will this do to the value of the MKII. Will Canon still service it, Can I expect to see the price drop substantially? Also, what about the 1DS MKII or the MKIII, will either of those come anywhere close to the $1,000-$1,2000 range? Thanks for any help you guys can give.

It will depend on how much they list the 1D Mk IV for, and when they will release it.

It's going to take MUCH longer for the 1Ds MKII or 1D MKIII to hit the 1000-$1200 range. I suspect you are at least 2 more years for hte 1Ds MKII and 3 years for the 1D MKIII to get to that range

it will push the price down as mark II owners will upgrade.

since the original 1d is still on the cps list, i would guess they are going to still service the mark II.

I thought I had heard somewhere that the Canon was no longer servicing the 1D Classic. That really makes me feel a lot better about a MK II, I don't want to be stuck with an unserviceable camera.

EDIT: Suggested retail for the MK IV is $4,999.
