25 Meg is what I am getting on RAW....guess I never thought about the resolution change versus file size. Good point.

The 5TB NAS I set up suddenly seems like a good idea now....

25MB sounds about right.
Yeah, it's certainly a jolt.
The same thing happened when I got the 5DMKII as a second body to my MKIII.

That said, hard drives are cheap these days so I am not too concerned about it.

Just shot my frist big job with the Mark IV.. It did pretty well. But the bad part is the guy I hired to shoot with me shot a Nikon D3 and his image quality is better the my Mark IV. We both shot jpeg @ ISO 6400 1\500 F4. both with Pro level 24-70 2.8s. I know some of it might me setting that I have not played with yet. But I was not to happy with the images when looking side by side.

Most likely due to lenses. The nikon version 24-70 is waaaaaaaaaay sharper than the canon.

No it's not....my Canon copy is just as sharp as the Nikon variant. It's sharp wide open right through the aperture range and focal range. It's an excellent optic.
The only optical defect that mine shows is a slight ponchaunt for a bit of CA. At 24mm it's almost rectilinear too, one of the best 24mm offerings in a zoom lens. The Nikon version curves it's lines a lot more than the Canon. Betwwen very good copies of both the Canon and Nikon, you would be hard pressed to tell the difference optically. I'm currently using 21mp and it's resolving very well, even wide open.

I've definitely had some batch variance with the 24-70. Some were absolute dogs, others were not too bad. YMMV.

I tried 4 copies of the 24-70L about 6 years ago and i ended up with a stellar Sigma 24-70/2.8 Macro instead. Then I re-tried again, 2 years ago after hearing that the new copies were a lot better and I picked up the first lens i tried. It's an excellent copy, as is my 2nd photographer's and here's is a bit older.

Gymnastics in a dark venue is a tough gig as you found out. I can't tell the difference from one to the next.

I will, however, post some examples for you on Monday after my session on Sunday in a dark dingy gym such as the one you were stuck in.

Welcome to my nightmare! :)

My Nikon one was pig and I had to send in for calibration. My Canon one is OK.

Neither are very nice wide open.....and why I rarely use it for sports...even outdoors. Prime lenses work best, 70-200 next.

I should have sold the Nikon one....but compared to the Nikon 17-55 f2.8 I had it was sharp as all get out....that 17-55 lens is an absolute throw away from Nikon and they charge a fortune for it.

OK, here comes the cat shots...for those who don't like cats or photos of cats, my apologies!

All taken with the 200L. (Yeah, I know...all that gear and here I am posting cat photos!)

As usual, resized image followed by a link to bigger size files. (This time I saved them with 4256px on the long side)

Yes, I applied my usual NR via Neat Image. Still looking to tweak it. I am not completely happy with the results I am getting.

What can I say? This one likes to pose for the camera!:D
