BTW- I'm using a PC, Vista 32-Bit.

Perhaps that's why? Is Vista even supported anymore?

In the Canon software world, Vista is the latest and greatest - I don't think Canon has issued any software that's "officially" compatible with Windows 7.

Vista was such a mess I just wondered if perhaps XP might have compatibility....and not Vista.

I'm wondering if the codec just can't handle 1D4 RAW files, regardless of operating system. Since I don't have a 1D4 :(, I can't test that out.

TBH I have pretty well moved away from PC now, I do need to run some PC software as it is not available on a mac, but I just use VMware Fusion, it is fantastic, I have windows and mac on the my mac at the same time both running and I just click between each other on the desktop, uses all same Hardware to, with a 27" screen just works for me now.

Well I got my Mark IV yesterday. Actually they tried to deliver it Monday, but I was at the doctors office, so they delivered Tuesday. Unfortunately I was sick so I wasn't up to going out and testing it. I had a BB game to cover last night but didn't make it either. So Friday night I will get to try it in a HS gym. I at least took a couple of unboxing photos.... Also, is there a way to set the counter to 0, mine was at 100-5000.

Any more big lens problems with the new firmware?

Nice.

Wonder why it showed up as 5000 on the shutter count? I donlt recall see how to do that but pulling the on board battery would sure set everything back to defaults I would think.

The 1D4 has a shutter counter?!
Or is that 100-5000 just the number from your CF card (which is different). You would just have to reset the count on the card.

The 100 part is from the card, I think. Not sure. Just asking. I saw a post over on DPR about this, it seems there is a wide range of number from where the count starts.

Gotta show a picture of a cat....nothing else to shoot around here. Raining outside....

Shot ISO 6400, 70-200 (150mm), 2.8, 1/400, M2 JPG, Firmware 1.06 . Copied off my card, and uploaded to smugmug to view here. Nothing was done to it.

I think I have this now to the right size, resized 693 x 1024....but it still seems large..???

The 100 is the folder on the card. To reset the "File" number.....

5th menu tab from the left==>File numbering then==>Manual Reset.

Mine just went to zero.....but will now renumber from zero on so file confusion may reign once I go to download again. Damn.
