Stifler, are you keeping that location a secret? You know how many people want to photography wild kingfishers in Britain!

I don't think Stifler said it was wild, nor in the UK :) the problem with kingfishers is less finding them, more getting good access to them that won't disturb them.

All the birds I have posted this week can be found around this fruit-bearing tree that we planted over a decade ago. I am so happy that we did this as I have a birding place that is walking distance. ;D

This was photographed in the Philippines

The Asian Glossy Starling (Aplonis panayensis) is a species of starling in the Sturnidae family. It is found in Bangladesh, Brunei, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical mangrove forests. There are also a huge number of this species inhabits towns and cities, where they take refuge in abandoned buildings and trees. They often move in large groups and considered as one of the noisiest species of birds.

I really like the mk4, I ahve been shooting half a year with it and the quality step up from mk3 is there and very good to play with (like going safely in the ISO2000 range)

only regret is that "auto ISO" mode I cannot find how to configure, for example I want to select 1/400s for 200mm and not 1/200s ... did anyone found the proper way to do it ?

here is one at f4.0, I will post more :)

Alain, if you're in manual mode you can select the shutter speed and aperture however you like with auto ISO turned on.

you are very correct, but I would like to have it in A mode ...

because very often I am outside and light changes fast ! also I shoot very thin DOF so I need the quick DOF without worring to much about changing parameters ...

To some extent I think you should be able to do what you are looking for by combining
C.FnI-3 (ISO range)
C.FnI-12 (time range)
C.FnI-13 (app range)
Then work in Av or Tv mode, whatever works best for the application

well I tried to play with ISO range but it is mostly a pain, it is faster to selec the proper ISO in that case, you loose the idea of "auto" :)

but you are right I should play with the speed range, I work with primes so that does not change a lot every second, then place a safety shift on speed, and see if that work !

thank you !

still I would love Canon to provide a simple way to do so ...

I just wish you could have Exposure Compensation under Manual Mode + Auto ISO. Have a preset shutter and aperture and let the camera decide on the ISO +/- your preferred EC.

EOS mE > thank you :)

dolina > yeah, any simple solution will be better than no control, and there are some simple ways, personnaly I would love to have 2 auto ISO displayed so you can configure them, I would put one as "minimum lens mm and minimum 1/50" and one as "minimum twice the lens mm" ... they just need to put "Auto1" and "Auto2" ...
