According to the Mark IV manual I just downloaded, on p 35 it states the battery life is good for approximately 1500 shots!! In my current Mark III bodies I get about 4 times as many pictures from a battery!! Do you suppose this is correct, I can not imagine there would be such a significant decrease in battery life with this new model?

The 1D3 is rated at 2200 shots, so if you're getting 2.5-3X as many from the Mk III, you'll probably get similar from the Mk IV. Figure, at your usage, 4500-5000 shots on a charge.

I think that the Mk IV uses more energy due to the brighter display and the increased processing needed for the larger files.

So if you're concious about youe global footprint don't buy a MK IV.

I'm not, though I'm pretty concious about my wallet footprint! :)

It's not really that much bigger. The 1D3/1D4 battery isn't a full length battery like the old 1D/1D2 battery. It only reaches about 1/2 way into the body. So yes, it's larger than the LP-E6 and the BP-511 but not huge.

In terms of capacity:

LP-E4 - 2100 maH, 11.1 V
LP-E6 - 1800 maH, 7.4 V
BP-511 - 1390 maH, 7.4 V

Will my 1D Mark III RSS L Bracket fit on a Mark IV? What about the EC-D Grid focus screen from my 1D Mark III?

the left hand side of the IV is different than the III, therefore, a unique L bracket will be fabricated. I think the III L bracket would fit, but some access to the various hookups on the left will be blocked.

I had the bracket from my 5DII on my III last week. It went on but i couldn't use the cable release.

Due to bandwidth limitation.. not at home right now, wasn't able to view much of this only headlights coming on at the beginning.

Was there mention of the lens or lenses used for this?
