On this thread on FM http://www.fredmiranda.com …opic/824621/7#lastmessage (external link) I posted a question a few hours ago of PierreB who is in the UK.

He posted that his supplier had said his would be shipped today. So my question was has he phoned up to confirm it would be shipped.

I know I would have done and he must be eager to get it as he obviously phoned a few days ago.

No word as yet though.

I'm with the same company he is (I'm on that thread) and have had no email or call from the company for what it's worth.

Swedish stores report they will get an unknown quantity (but most likely just one or two cameras) between Christmas and New Year. I'm 10-11 on two pre-order lists so I'll not get one this year. :(

I'll be leaving for my trip on the 27th so unless they can begin shipping next week, I'm probably out until March or so when shooting season begins.

I wanted to take the MKIV to my overseas trip to test it out but I guess it just wasn't meant to be!

All you folks are lucky. Shipment lands on the 27th and will stay stuck at Customs because of Philippine public holidays until at least the first week of January. :(

Good thing is I have 1 of the first 5 that will land. The perks of reserving way back in January.

Back in January he was offering the 1D3 to match my 300 & 800 but I said...

"I'm waiting for the 1D4 for a next gen AF system and video as I know (back then) that Canon updates the 1D every 3 years and 2010 is the 3rd year. Also keep in mind that the World Cup (June-August) and Winter Games (February) will occur 2010."

While waiting the 5D2 was more than adequate body to get myself familiar with shooting with long lenses.

Back in January there wasn't even a waiting list for the 1D3 replacement. :)) But I knew the demand will exceed supply until mid-2010.

I doubt the demand will exceed supply for 6 months. Not with a $5000 price tag. Yes the initial shipments will be low, but I am pretty confident it won't be to bad after that. Nothing like it was with the 5D Mark II. Hell I didn't even pre-order the Mark II and picked it up a week after it was released. Of course that was by pure luck as Best Buy ended up getting a bunch in and I got the last available one left in the State.

I didn't pre-order this one either and I still plan on getting my hands on one in the near future. I guess we will see.

I have to agree with that. It is only 36 people on this forum that have pre-ordered or put down a deposit :) According to a recent survey :P

That "36" number is remarkably low! Guess I missed the survey, can you please provide a link, thanks.

36 isn't low.

Not all Canon buyers hang out on this board. If we take not the total number (36) but the percentage (15%), then about 15% of the Canon buyers out there are looking to buy a new 1D Mark IV. That's a lot.

Don't know if it means much, but the 1D Mark IV has been 56 days in the top 100 of Amazon.com's DSLR bestsellers. It's #58 right now (Dec. 18, 2009). For a $5000 camera that's not even shipping yet, that's not bad.
