Congrats, welcome to the pre-order club :)

Who did you pre-order from?

And as for the 100 Macro L vs 135, on Fred Miranda, a lot of people have sold their 135 for the new macro. That might give you an idea of how well liked that lens is!

What is a redundancy cheque? Is that like our IRS refund? Or is this question redundant?

Hi Adam

Ordered from Kerso direct. He gives much prices than his eBay prices.

I really fancied the 135 until I saw threads on the 100 Macro. I have been looking at the macro threads and some of the shots are (as Craig Revel-Horwood) would say "Ah-May-Zing" ;)

I'm just not sure how quick the AF speed is compared to the 135 for when I would want to use it in-doors under dodgy lighting.

While you're here - & sorry it's off topic but how does the 100 Macro in AF speed compare to the 135?

I remember seeing you ask the question (many times) & notice you have sold you're 135 for the 100 Macro.

To bring it on topic - how do you feel the 100 Macro will go with the Mk IV?

In good light, I haven't noticed anything with regards to the AF. In not so good light, it does hunt. It's slow when it has to do a full rack to achieve focus. I don't use this lens in very dim conditions, so it hasn't been a problem for me.

On the 1DMKIII I used to own, all my lenses performed that much better in terms of AF, so I am assuming the same holds true for the MKIV. This is compared to the AF on my 5DMKII.

You're talking to the wrong fella here Rob! My g/f spent the night watching that show. You won't catch me watching it ever! :p

Anyway, good luck with Kerso. I've ordered loads from him, and 90% of the time have had positive feedback.

One page too late Nick ;)
I beat ya to it.

I encountered the same while watching the UK "The Office". I thought , "Wow...redundant..that's polite." Here were layed off, like kaput.

It's like a buy-out in the US I believe.

There's no requirement for an employer to pay redundancy aside from Statutory Redundancy Pay (which is £250 for each full year worked) beyond any outstanding contractual notice period.

However it's not uncommon for a longer-term employee to receive a pretty generous redundancy payment. Less so right now due to most companies having a rough time. For instance - I was made redundant in 2002 and was paid 6 months salary having been there for 3 years.

I'm waiting for my local supplier to confirm pricing of the 1DIV before I jump in. Street price may be ~US$4650.
I would not want to be stuck with a 5DII and then have to supplement it with a 7D.

I can't imagine how good cameras will have gotten by 2015 when the 1DMkIV is down to $700 used. Imagine THAT.
