Just accidentally bought a 5DII (shhhh, don't tell my wife ;) )

I have 2 8gb cards, one that's Kingston 133x, one that's a PNY 266x.

Am I better to upgrade to a faster 16 or 32gb card?

I'm also getting a grip for it, as I prefer having one. I need to buy more batteries. I know the non OEM don't communicate with the camera like the Canon LP-E6's. Anyone have a problem with them? Do they give any battery use feedback on the camera at all?
I was thinking of buying one Canon and 2 non OEM for back-ups. Sound like a plan?

Regarding the cards, if you're shooting RAW or video, I would get at least two 16GB cards. It depends on how many shots you take at a time. In full RAW, you get about 800 photos on a 16GB card.

Check the prices of the Canon lp-e6's on www.onsale.com (external link) and on Amazon. You should be able to find them for about $60. It's not as cheap as knockoffs, but you'll have the peace of mind knowing that they're the real thing.

I'd stick with 8 or 16 gig cards at the max--I don't really like having all my photos from a shoot fit on one card. If something goes wrong, it is nice to at least capture some of a shoot instead of losing everything. I have two 8 gig cards and two 4 gig cards and don't feel the need for any more cards at all. If I couldn't take a laptop with me and I was going away for more than a day, then maybe, but I think a review of photos and some deleting can be in order at the end of the day. The files are really big and no real sense hanging on to the obvious duds.

Batteries: I like that you get the information on the battery in camera--much more useful. Two batteries is probably more than enough. I can make one last for more than a day of typical shooting.

Get some extreme 3 memory cards from Sandisk. 16gb gives you 600 raw. In terms of batteries. Get the real thing so you don't have to keep rebuying batteries in the future. It's such a hassle. Sigh...

Oh and it's a good idea to have 4 if you Are shooting video. I have 2 in the cam, 2 in my bag.

I'm down with getting a couple 16gb's. What about card speed, is there any noticeable difference in rob galbraiths comparison of an Extreme III at 23.2MB/s and and an Extreme IV or Lexar Pro 300X at 30.xMB/s
