After a couple days of rain, the conditions were a little soupy for the final meet of the season but our girls prevailed with a meet win as well as the overall season victory. The boys faired well too but wound up second overall. These are all available light shots, exif intact. C+C always appreciated.

Thanks Dave. The key was trying to stay out of it while shooting!

#8 is classic!! Those kids of shots are so much better IMO than the canned stand there and stare at the camera shots. I can just see them now, two lay down and the rest hit the mud like lemmings. I bet whoever does the laundry for the team just loves you for instigating such crazy antics. :-)

I like the first two. The splashing really adds to the shot.

#4 turned out good but think it would have been excellent with your fill flash technique you used a few meets ago.

If you have more pixels at the top of #5 I think it would have looked nice getting more of the color from that tree in the shot.

That is definitely one of the biggest XC teams I have ever seen. Most teams around here are lucky to have enough girls to register a team score.

Thanks Kevin, great crit and really helpful. I was really hoping my daughter (second from right, second row) wasn't going to be doing the mud bath but I'm sure you can imagine how well that turned out for me. I guess they deserved at least that after their season. I didn't mention it in this thread but this is our middle school team and our town isn't really that big (15k). Our HS team is much bigger but even in our MS meets, its not uncommon for the field to hit 300-400 girls. We are lucky though b/c we have an amazing coach and the team shows it. The MS girls had 5 of the top 10 spots in almost every meet this season. I'm just glad to see how much its helped my daughter in so many ways, she's pretty bummed the season is done.

I completely agree on the fill flash too. Truth be told, I had rain gear on the camera since the meet started in the rain and I don't have a flash cover so I shot ambient. Naturally, we got a little sun part way through. I have some room to work on #5 so I'll try a different crop there.

Thanks again man, always appreciate the feedback!

You're knocking the socks off that bokeh Scott. They look great.

If I'm Dad to any of the kids in shot 1,2,4,5,6 I'm buying and framing.

cheers.

Darcy, thanks a ton. Parents have been slow to purchase but I made a slideshow presentation for the banquet and I really hope that I'm fighting them off with a stick afterwards...yeah, right!

Thanks Danny. Yeah, she's going to stick with it. The girls organized a group to continue running together over the winter which is great.
