Comparison - Which do you like better?

I'm just starting to try some HDR, I like the concept and the results. Took these pictures on the way home today. Wish the sun had been shining. The first one I did in Corel Photo Paint 11, the second one with the Photomatix trial. Used the same originals for both.
Tell me what you think. Am I on the right track?
1) Corel

Corel for everything except the sky.

I liked photomatix better

I say Corel but only because I like more contrast than the dreamy rendering Photomatix gave you. If the contrast could be dropped a bit for the Corel on, it would look very nice.

Definitely looks more natural. I thought the sky was still blown out it looks featureless so that's understandable .

For the way you treated each image I would say the Corel has the best depth, looking at the second adjustment.

Kevin, your stuff is amazing. You pic of the mission church is what made me want to try this.
The sky was really featureless... just flat cloud cover, not even anything fluffy. Maybe another day.

photomatix 3.0....1st one looks better to me

I like the foreground of Corel and the trees/sky of Photomatix.
