Surely this thing can handle the editing of 7D and 5D video :p

Quad-Core intel processors, 2TB of memory, 16 gb of ram...world's first multi-touch mouse (wireless keyboard and mouse = standard ) I am in love!

While I love my MacBook, the iMac prices are quite outrageous for what's offered. Reason why I built my desktop. =D

But it's good to see Apple updating hardware faster than in the past.

Worth every bloody nickel... I used to be a MAC hater until I got fed up with constant errors and compatibility issues. When I got into photography, a gentleman I was working with did all his editing on his Mac Pro and always had an "edge" over my quality. When I did get the Mac, it made a considerable difference in my editing workflow and overall results.

I still build and repair PC's for friends and family, but always recommend buying a MAC. I probably do anywhere from 1-4 repairs/builds per month and help convert a few of them.

Wow, 27" IPS screen. Nice!
*want*

I wonder what's better, the 3.06 Ghz core 2 duo, or the 2.66 quad core i5?
I'm not real familiar with the latest chips.

The i5 is better.

Why is that? Multiple cores allow the processing of more tasks at once, correct?
Wonder why they only offered it in 2.66 ghz?

I think I'm going to try and run it pass the wife for next year. After I get the 35L and 85L, while waiting for the 5Diii to come out.

Yeah, funny isn't it with Macs? People either love them or hate them. I'm a software engineer and system administrator in Melbourne, Australia.

My home is a PC-free environment. Macs only.

i5 is a newer and has a more powerful architecture.

They're using this: http://www.newegg.com …aspx?Item=N82E16819115215 (external link)

Althoooough, upon second look that monitor is very nice. I wonder if it's glossy only though?

That's because the dual = 2 x 3.06 = 6.12 ghz total

Quad core = 4 x 2.66 = 10.64 ghz total

The intel i7 965 is a quad core @ 3.33 ghz , but they're still really expensive.

What, no. You do not multiply the frequency by the number of cores.

A quad core at 3.6ghz is 3.6ghz. No matter how many cores the cpu has, it does not add more frequency.
