Can someone help me find the JPEG preview files that are linked to certain files in Lightroom? Raw files have gone missing, but the 1440pixel preview files are still there. I'd like to save these files (without doing printscreen and then saving in photoshop).

TIA!

I'm not sure what format the previews are in but they are not jpeg (at least not using a jpeg extension) so you may be stuck with the screenshot unless you can find a way of hacking them.

The previes are stored in the Lightroom Catalog Previews.lrdata directory in the main Catalog directory. To locate that go to Edit/Preferences and then click the Go to Catalog Settings button. Your Catalog location will appear toward the top.

Yes, I think they are only text files, instructions to LR to rebuild the display anew each time they are needed.

See this page... there is a drawn out manual method to recover the previews:

At the end of the page, he links an easier method, but claims to have had some problems getting some 1:1 previews:

I searched for "recover lightroom previews" and it bings up a few more items.
