Hi guys, just wanna ask or inquire if any of you get hold of this affordable wide angle lens.Im on a tight budget and needed to have a wide angle urgently.Im thinkin of purchasing a pre-loved Tamron 19-35 f3.5-4.5 lens.I have go through some lens reviews and find it quite reliable.

This time i would like to ask your views/experience with this lens.

Thanks very much.

I bought this lens back in 2005 and used it on a Rebel XT.The build quality is pretty darn good for a $140 lens.Really I never had any issues with it other than softness of the corners after using it on my 5D.If I was on a tight budget, which I was when I bought it,I would buy this lens again. Here are some shots taken with it on the XT.

What camera are you planning to use it on? For a 1.6x crop, you might as well get the 18-55 IS. For a full frame or 1.3x, it could be an OK lens for a wide angle if you stopped it down.

Im planning to use it on my reliable 1D classic which is a 1.3x and my trusty 20D which is a 1.6x repsectively.I'll test the lens tomorrow on my 1D and hoping to get some good results.

Thank you very much for the advice, really appreciate it.

I think it will work pretty well for that.

Here are some more samples for that lens. Looks very good at f5.6-8 based on the samples

wow, impressive shots from an under $200 lens.

thank you very much for the link.im having thoughts also to get the tokina 20-35 2.8.i know it has big difference on the opening and the advantage on low light shooting, but as for me, i hardly shoot on a low light situation since 1D has a terrible noise and banding.

This lens is generally recognized as a Cosina, and is also sold as a Phoenix, Promaster and Vivitar.

Images from one of the 19-35mm lenses that was badged as a Tokina.

The price, secondhand, was around US $100. Put the lens on the XTi, used it, and it worked just fine. It can take extra effort to find 77mm filters for the lens.

This lens has no bragging rights, but its price keeps several hundred dollars in your pocket.

Looks like it would be a nice inexpensive wide lens for full frame/1.3 crop. Don't see much purpose if used exclusively on a 1.6x crop camera but if you have both then why not try it out at least.
