Here is a couple from tonight of Chelsea. These are part of her sr. pics. All C&C welcome. Both were shot with 70-200 2.8 and 580 through an umbrella. Thanks!

Wow both shots are great! I really dig the first one, very sharp and great color! If you have some flash tips I'll take them all, I'm having the worst time ever with flash

Both are nice I really like the way her eyes pop in #1 but I think there is just a touch too oof wall in there for me I would crop it over just a little more great stuff though. Number 2 is very nice as well she is a pretty good and you did a great job capturing her.

Beautiful photos Jeremy!....love the use of DOF in #1 especially! Her parents should be pleased with these.

I think these are both good shots. A few minor things:

#1: This is a well composed shot. I particularly like the DOF and the lighting. I guess you could crop a little bit of the right side and the top but that's minor. My main (although small) gripe is really with the pose and specifically her hand/arm. She looks so natural yet the arm kind of looks stubby and almost awkward.

#2. Another good shot. For me I would crop a little bit more of the right side and the top. DOF is nice but relative to #1 she looks kind of 'stiff' and her smile looks a little forced. You use Photoshop much? If so I might suggest lightening some of those eye baggies on her face since they look more prominent than the ones in #1.

Outside of these minor things...good job!

Both shots are great, #1 for the win. Is she going into modeling now?

It took me a while with flash as well. I see you have a 580 and a 430 in your sig. Use the 580 in master and the 430 in slave and shoot shoot shoot. All I have is a off camera flash cord that I extended to about 20 ft, so all my shots are pretty close to the model unless I move the flash farther away. When I move it away I use the zoom on the flash head to my advantage and manually zoom to 80 or 105 and let the umbrella soften it for me. Sometimes I even use a snoot on the flash and shoot through the umbrella. This doesn't leave much room for feathering, but once you find the sweet spot you can really pull of some nice stuff. It has been a steep learning curve to get to this point. All the reading, studying, photoshop, tips and tricks, and this forum have brought me to this point, and very much worth it. I thank you all for you kind words!

Awesome! Thanks for the critique! I will keep these things in mind. I prob could have raised the flash a little more and steered clear of the "eye baggies". As for me using photoshop to get rid of them is prob out of range for my skills. I try to use as little pp as possible, most people here don't care much for it. Missouri is a little behind in some areas lol.

It's actually super easy. I'm not that great in PS but I learned so much from youtube videos. In your case just lightening the baggies with the clone stamp (hardness set to 0, mode: lighten, opacity set anywhere between 15-25% and make the size of brush a little bigger) and just lightly go over the problem area a few times will make a major difference. Once you figure out how to use it...you'll be kicking yourself about why you thought it was so hard before.
