G'day mate. What do you mean "more clear to viewers"? As in a "sticky" (only mods can do that) or as in the title not being clear? Is there something I can do to help?

Ya. Something on that line. Because if this thread was started on 10-22-2009, and I have seen it for the very first time today, something is not right!
I doubt you can do anything but to continue you good job. I am sure a lot of people are actively searching for info here, if only they knew where to look for...
Anyways, I marked this thread 5 stars, if that can mean anything and please keep up the excellent work.

Cheers mate. I didn't even know you could "star" posts, and I've been a member here for 7 years or so. Ha.

BTW your post here jogged my memory to update the first post to reflect my current preferred software, plus I added some new ones, plus I checked some prices that I'd quoted years ago to see if they were still the same.

EQAlign should be under Polar Alignment also. It's a free drift alignment tool that is suitable for non-goto mounts using a webcam.

Thanks Steve. I am aware of EQAlign. I was using it when it was very early in development - might have been a beta version, or 1.x version. Found it very buggy and not the best. That's why I didn't have it on the list here. Wanted to keep the list to reliable software.

Do you use it regularly and find it better now? I see it's at version 2.x these days.

An excellent FREEware Planetarium
is C2A from http://www.astrosurf.com/c2a/english/ (external link)
Has telescope control, logging, observation planning built in and works well in conjunction with Astroplanner...

I've never used it for auto guiding but I've been using it for polar alignment for several years now. The interface makes it very easy to do a drift alignment on a non-goto mount.
I find that it takes less time to do a polar alignment using EqAlign on my Super Polaris mount as it does to go through the whole ASPA procedure on the CGEM. I use both for unguided photography.

Steve.

Done. I've added it, and downloaded it for testing. Looks good! Thanks!

I've added a note in the polar alignment software group. Thanks mate.

Been playing around with that C2A planetarium. Looks good! Liking the feel of it a little better than CdC.

I second the motion if there is such a thing.

This is quite useful.
