So here it is. Talked about for some time.

The new specs are great! It is a great camera for sure.

One thing I just cannot get off of my mind is the decision to keep it APS-H.

I do not understand this. I have politely asked many on this forum and in the real world what they think and most really do not like it either.

It made sense when technology was still coming around the corner, but now we see that technology has caught up.

I do not see the need to compare this camera to any other brands (Nikon or other) because that will just spiral out of control.

What I am really curious of is the users of this forum to give there honest and experienced (that means you have used a 1.3X crop cam) view of Canon's decision (not marketing wise, we all know they will make more money) to keep this format.

The whole fanboy thing gets old. All cameras have their niches so we do not have to defend any points based on sentiment. I feel that is where a lot of the APS-H support comes from.

My take:

I think that the APS-H sensor is a big fail for a few main reasons:

1) There are no APS-H specific lenses (like EF-S)
2) The Mirror is the same size as full frame so the mechanics are there
3) Canon makes some great wide lenses, they do not feel right on this format. (15mm, 16-35mm, 17-40, 24mm)
4) The Price point for the 1Ds is somewhat unrealistic in today's market.
