Check out this link, this is the closest that I found but it also looks very close to a Luna moth larvae!!

Those are close, but not quite it, I think. It is hard to tell though. Great reference!

I agree with Secret_Squirrel, it does look like a Polyphemus moth larva. They are actually fairly common, and the adult form is large AND beautiful. It looks like you might have the 5th instar, and if you happened to put it in a jar with oak or maple leaves, you may get to see it pupate.

Sorry I thought the two links were different and went to the specific larvae, Ist one was for the Polyphemus moth, which is my coice but each individual can look somewhat different and it looks close to the Luna, but I do think it is the Polyphemus moth, agreeing with the other two, nice shot irregardless!!:)

Yes, he/it was on an oak tree (Sawtooth Oak ~ a small one). I have never seen anything like it before. You all are extremely knowledgeable! :)
