I just sent an email this afternoon to Saxonpc and they acutally sell grid for 27 inch BD that will fit. However, they only have 2 types which is 50 degree and 20 degree.(1/2", 3/4", 3/8") They recommend me to buy 50, but I think it's too big and 20 is too small. What do you guys think?

Are you saying they have grids of the right size or that they sell the grid material and you assemble it for the modifier you want to use?

The material looks like plastic (my guess is polypropylene).

Any reasonable modeling light will destroy that in short order.

It would likely be fine for a flash that does not use a modeling light.

Enjoy! Lon

Why not buy a 3rd party grid and mod it. Lencarta, interfit etc. Do you have a frame to hold that grid ? A rectangular grid of that size is not very practical imo.

I'm guessing the plan would be to just cut it to shape.

what spread you should get will pretty-much depend on what you want to use the dish for. If you have ambitions of using it for full-length then get the 50 degree. Otherwise get the 20 degree. If it's cheap enough, get both :)

Out of interest, how much are they charging you for a piee of aluminium grid that size?

Yes that would be easy enough, however making a frame might not. For most people a rectangular frame would be the easiest to fabricate.

So regardless of shape, unless you have a frame made ,the grid will be useless, no way to attach it and a grid of that size will need a good frame belive me.

Hence why i posed the question, why not get a grid already cut and with a frame in right size from the get go. ?

Saving big bucks ? Doubt it, the available grid from most makers are quite affordable. So unless you want to make it just for the kicks of it. Im not sure why anyone would go thru the trouble.

Thats just me though.

Cool, I don't even know Lencarta does 70cm grid.

Saxon sells them for $55 + $20 shipping.
Yeah, I might make a frame by buying home depot stuff.

I totally can't find any grids at all anywhere that will fit on 27inch. Do you have any good recommendations Paul?

The Lencarta IS for a 70cm BD, so is the Interfit. The Lencarta image is outdated though, you will have mod/replace the "clips" so it will fit your Elinchrom BD.

Eitherway modding the clips/"leaf springs" is alot easier then making a frame.

Paul, where can I find the Interfit/Radar 1 on internet? (BH sells Interfit stuff but I don't see 1)
I had emailed a lot of ebay people and they just never reply!I google'd everywhere too.

It would be great if you can give me a couple of pointers.

Iv seen a few on ebay, but cant seem to find any at the moment. They are available Scandinavia thru webborder. I contacted them when i was in the market for a grid, and they measured the the grid to 68cm in diameter. I havent tried it though, since i got a grid from the Elinchrom Agent to evaluate.

The Lencarta is most likley your best bet though, since the radar seems a bit rare where you live.

Kindest

Yeah, totally never heard of Radar. Interfit just doesn't have 1 , I guess my best bets are Lencarta + ebay. Thanks Paul!
