I'm looking for a pan head. So far I have run across Manfrotto QTVR (external link) and the Flashpoint PB-70 (external link). Has anyone tried either of these, or know of another solution similar. I've seen the RRS one, but I don't want/need a quick release clamp attached.

That's just an add-on for a head that doesn't have a panning feature built in. Why not just get a head with panning as an option to begin with? Would be lighter too since less pieces.

It's easier to level out the top of the ballhead than the base.
